My recent buys were the Essence loose pigment in 09 Copper Queen (R64.95), the brand new Inglot collab with JL - the Pure Pigment Eye Shadow in J409 Cosmic Glow (R299) and the Inglot Eye Shadow Keeper (R369)
There is obviously a huge price range between the Essence and Inglot Pigments but I wanted to try them out and see if there was any comparison between the two and see if I could save you some money if the Essence pigments match the quality of the Inglot Pigments.
As of yesterday I have never bought any product from Inglot so I was quite excited and Essence has been one of my favorite brands for years now because of their quality and price.
My first impressions:

~ When I opened up the Essence lid the product was so full to the top that product actually fell out. I think that is wonderful as you are getting a lot of product and it isn't full 3/4 of the way like most products which I really appreciated!
~ However there wasn't a protective seal or any plastic on the product so it could have been easily opened (which I doubt by the amount of product I had) and the product used which is slightly unsanitary.
~ You get 1g which isn't a whole lot but a lot goes a long way which is great and for that price if mine finishes I will definitely be repurchasing the product.

~ I loved the packaging of the JL x Inglot products, they are elegant and sophisticated.
~ When I opened up the Inglot Pigment, I noticed how they weren't as full as the Essence ones, which is disappointing as I paid so much for it.
~ You get 2g which is a lot but if I make it 1g and half the price to R150 it is still quite a lot more still, than the Essence Pigments.
~ I did personally think R300 was really expensive but I kept telling myself that the application, look and longevity will explain a lot.
Apon Application:

I used the my new Eye primer to apply these pigments. The primer comes out as a beige colour and a thick consistency but when I rubbed it in, it turned almost clear and much thinner. It was very expensive (R369) in my opinion and I will test it out with other products and compare it to my other eyeshadow primers and see if it worth the money

~ I applied the Essence Pigment first and I noticed that a little went a long way, however I needed a decent amount of product in order to make the product more pigmented. It stuck to the primer wonderfully and there was no fall out at all
~ When I applied the Inglot Pigment I released it was more pigmented than the Essence one and it is duo chrome which is beautiful. It also stuck to the primer really well and there was no fall out.
~ I had no problem with the application of both products
~ The longevity of these two products are outstanding, after 5 hours of wear they have both only slightly faded which I find really impressive! I can't tell as of yet if it is the Primer which is making it last so long or if the products are just good and long lasting so I will keep testing the products out and keep you updated on my thoughts.
Overall Thoughts:
~ Considering the Essence pigments are only R64.95 I think they are definitely worth the money!! They are easily comparable to the Inglot ones in the way they apply and the longevity.
~ The range of the Essence pigments from what I can remember aren't that amazing in colours and correct me if I'm wrong but I could only find ± 5 different colours where the Inglot Pigment colours are a lot more exciting as some are duo chrome and there is a larger colour selection to choose from.
~ I think theres nothing wrong with either of the products but I don't think I will be buying another Inglot Pigment because I do think they are really pricey and I will rather find other pigments which are cheaper and try those out.
~ I will definitely be buying all the pigments from Essence
~ I really enjoyed the primer and think it did a lot for the Pigments like keeping them vibrant for a long time, making sure there was no fall out and making sure they last so long, however it is really expensive so when I can get my hands on the NYX or Essence glitter primer I will try it out and compare.

Just a quick side note, I took a shower and tried not to get soap near my swatches but after my shower I was highly impressed with these two products, they both lasted a whole 12 hours + a shower + wearing my long sleeve school shirt! Also the essence product lasted longer and was more vibrant after all that time and shower which makes me truly impressed!
I wore the Inglot pigment for my Matric Dance last weekend and it also impressed me, the product went on smoothly and a little goes a long way and the pigment is outstanding!! It lasted all night and morning and through a whole lot of dancing
Until next time 💋
